Home Is Where I Want to Be

We've spent July hanging out in this green space, with family. It's been like a vestibule for our re-entry into life in Michigan. We joked the first week that this place felt like Jurassic Park compared to where we lived before. The trees are much taller, cranes and bats fly overhead, frogs fill up the ponds and talk at night, deer run by every day, black raspberries grow on the edge of the woods, fireflies flicker, and of course, mosquitoes keep us swatting.

We expect to move to the big city soon. But for now, it's been lovely to spend a bit of the summer here.

I'm a bit out of the blogging and crafting groove, while we wait to settle into a new place. In the meantime, I hope you're enjoying the beautiful summer.

Ok, I think the spell check on my phone changed my comment and I didn't realize it. Obviously it was supposed to be very, not nary. That's kind of funny, actually.

I love that first photo! It so reminds me of the lazy summer days of my family vacations to Northern Wisconsin and our little cabin in the woods.

I just found your blog through "Life is a Canvas" blog roll. I have really been enjoying your story. I had a very similar experience...wanted to move and experience other places. However, I really missed family and friends. I constantly felt like I always had one foot out the door not knowing if I should move home or stay where I liked living. So far I have stayed, but I always feel so divided. Can't wait to see more about Detroit. I have always been curious after I rolled through on a train once.
