Kaia is finding fewer and fewer squirrels on our daily dog walks. In September, I had to duck and cover when we'd pass under an oak tree. When the acorn supply was plentiful, the squirrels tossed little dodge balls on our heads as they hurried to fatten up.
The hiding away of now plump squirrels should signal that the deep freeze is just around the corner, although tomorrow they are saying it's supposed to be in the 60's. I can't decide if I'm glad or not.
